Men behaving badly

The scenes of a tiny group of Muslim protestors - perhaps a more apt term would be 'hooligans' who appear to be former members of al-Muhajiroun - disrupting the parade of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment in Luton, marking their return from Iraq, are shameful.

The protestors paraded placards reading ‘Anglian Soldiers Go To Hell’ and ‘Crusade Against Islam’.

While many British Muslims - and indeed perhaps the majority of the UK public - objected to the government’s decision to commit our troops to the illegal invasion of Iraq, few will approve of the actions of these protestors. It is a discredit to all those that opposed the invasion of Iraq to see individuals seeking to use the war in Iraq to deliberately polarise relations between communities in the UK.

Images such as these are a gift to the many Islamophobes in our newspapers and broadcast media. Have a look at these stories that have already been published and the readers' comments they have elicited. Even the BBC's George Alagiah referred to the hooligans as 'Islamist protestors' during the BBC1 6 o'Clock News.

While the tiny group of protestors might feel they have scored a small victory with the amount of news coverage they have generated, the wider consequences of their incendiary and irresponsible actions will unfortunately be felt by much greater numbers of ordinary innocent Muslims.

Bunch of imbeciles period, but I do feel a little perplexed at how the indigenous folk were getting irate and some wanted to attack these 'imposters' however the Iraqi's or the Afghans as the indigenous peoples of their land have no right to defend themselves against 'imposters' who aren't carrying placards but are in fact carrying guns....a tint of hypocrisy I'd say

i'd request the muslim brothers who were protesting to instead walk the streets of luton everyday preaching about islam and inviting people to Allah with wisdom and beautiful preaching and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious.
