‘Giant mosque is given go-ahead’

ENGAGE has written to the Editor of the Oldham Evening Chronicle concerning an article headlined ‘Giant mosque is given go-ahead’, which appeared in the paper last week.

The building plans (an artist's image of the planned Islamic centre is pictured above) recently approved by Oldham Council make clear that what is proposed to be built is a four storey mosque and educational centre, yet the Oldham Evening Chronicle headline 'Giant mosque is given go-ahead' betrays the usual ‘mega- mosque’ alarmism we’ve come to see in articles on mosque building projects in the UK.
